The speedometer and the tac needle are both driven by a small motor. Not sure what happens but my tac does it too. Middle of summer when it's 95 it work fine. Now that it 50 at 3000 rpm it will jump to 5000 and back. What is the sandpaper trick?

Speed Sensor is $60 so I don't want to just start replacing parts. May try the sandpaper trick I read about on here. Also, I'm checking all the grounds I can find.

Any other suggestions or solutions?

The sensor is a magnetic type so sanding it won't solve anything. If you pull it again and you have more whiskers on it, drain your trans fluid and give it a flush. Then fill it with new fliud. You might for some reason have alot of debris hanging out in the trans.,,

Had that same thing happen to me once when I turned the bike off using just the key. I discovered that when I turn off the kill switch first then turn off the key when stopping and turning on the key then turn on the kill switch when starting, the problem went away. This is the sequence I use every time now and the problem has never returned. Not sure if the situation is the same as yours but that is what I found. Good luck!
