Default Accessory Shopping - Observations

OK, I'm 2 days into my 35 day wait for the Street Bob delivery. I'm pretty sure I've looked at accessories on every web site that sells such things.

A few observations.
- This sh** is expensive
- You could keep adding stuff to a bike for years before being "done".
- Who the hell is Roland Sands and why the Fu** would I want to put HIS name all over MY bike? Some cool stuff, but lose the ego bitch.
- Not as many themes as I expected. I saw some cool black spider, and spider web stuff that I liked, but only a couple cheesy items. Some eight-ball stuff would be cool too (I saw a few items, but not much selection..)
- A lot of "me too" stuff going on. Someone makes a cool derby cover and 10 other companies make something similar.
- I saw a cool site where some guys make gun and ammo related accessories. It looks like they make good solid parts, but the designs were a bit basic. Some Gears of War or Call of Duty styled stuff might sell well.

I think it's time for the HD accessory market to get shaken up a bit.

Yeah, the Harley parts market has definitely been short of video game related parts. Screw Roland Sands, where's the Angry Birds themed accessory set?

Just chill man! You don't need to add stuff to something you don't even have yet. When you get it start riding and getting used to it, wait until the two of you have clicked before you start changing or adding stuff. You have your whole life ahead of you.....

I agree with grbrown. Everyone's different but what I do is ride the bike the way it is for a while. Then change whatever, if anything, necessary for comfort and convenience first then maybe performance. Although they run pretty well stock anymore while getting good mpg.

Yes, I agree. I'm in no hurry to do decorative stuff; just too much time on my hands while I wait for delivery. I just can't stop looking at all the stuff and wondering why the market hasn't evolved.

Honestly, for me (and not judging others), I'm not into the theme look. Some subtle stuff like diamond plate or finned covers are cool because they aren't so gaudy. Skulls, bones and iron crosses have been done so much that I just can't get into it.

The Roland Sands stuff has some modern appeal if it didn't have his name stamped into every freaking piece.

Anyway, the advice is well taken (if I could only stop gawking at all the stuff!!)

Angry Birds....now that would be classic. An Angry Bird/Screamin' Eagle morph might have some market potential.

I can understand it. I had to wait a few weeks for my bike to be delivered and did the same thing. Just something to do to help with the seemingly never ending wait.
Didn't buy anything though and once I got my bike a lot of my plans for it changed as I got used to it and so will his.

I'm going to the garage to paint one of my helmets and clean up some of my gear. That'll keep me busy for the rest of the day.

Waiting for your new bike to arrive is one of the most stressful things there is!

Skulls, bones.... have been done so much that I just can't get into it.
Considering that the potential for serious head injury and broken bones are probably the biggest negatives to consider when deciding whether to ride, I just find it's ironic to promote the sport with images of bones and skulls on things. But each to their own, I'm sure I'm in the minority here on this.
