Yeah that! Wish I got in when you did but oh well.

Funny you should mention the crank - you nailed it. Mine took a sh*t on my ride back from Daytona. Made it home ok but it's down for repairs now. Like you said, the crank was made for assembly purposes - not durability or performance. Fortunately, the Moco is covering it. Damn glad I had some warranty left. But, not taking chances - I kicked in some coin to have the crank done right - welded, balanced, bored, etc and the labor is on the Moco.

I would be a fool to let this bike go after I fixed all the stuff that isn't right by design.

Oh, I thought Moco had figured out a way to put their logo on turds...

Hmm... no doubt there are some riders out there who would pay for that.

First of all HD did not put the cat in the head pipe. That is just what keyboard cowboys call it.

Look at HD literature. The cat is in a collecting tube which is welded to the collector just after the two head tubes terminate. The only thing in the head tubes are the O-2 sensors.

The collector tube is 4 to 6 times the diameter of the two head tubes combined. It is no different that the cats in a car.

Repeat after me. "The cat is not in the head tubes."

Do you feel better now?

Note: HD still puts the cat in the mufflers on most Dyna's and Softails. If you see a new bike with heat shields on the mufflers it is there because a cat is under it. The Switch Back has the collector tube after the head pipes. Most Sportsters do not have a cat. The exemption is the XR1200 which is in a collector tube .

The current V-Rods have collector tube cats.

OP - If you want to bash HD at least know what the F you are talking about dummy!

Harley has THE most loyal owners and customers who IMHO like the USA made "fact"
Was it us riding in the 60's 70's that made 100's of 1000's want to dress and ride like us?
Or is it something else that drove the huge increase in sales of HD's in the last 20 yrs. What ever, the MOCO has rewarded their customers loyalty with cheap chinese parts
I'm a wheel bearing victim[8k and shot] NEVER had a M/C eat a wheel bearing in less that 20 k. Glad the MOCO saved 10 cents to cost me $100. Corporate greed. PERIOD.
BIG "Made in America" HD logo on the chinese made leather jacket [big friggin' eyeroll here!!!!] Yeah i know my 79 has a japanese front end [Showa] at least it was made by a ally, not some communist country trying to crush the US economicaly. But who gives a pshite about america's slide to crap, just defend your precious MOCO no matter what sheeple. DEMAMD better from corporate america, because you KNOW whats going on directly contributes to the down slide of our late great USA.
Let the spin begin.
Yes some have no troublewith their HD's but you cannot deny many have due to cheap crappy chinese parts. Those that make excuses for corporate greed are sheep.

If we get into a big war [the ME will explode soon] who is gonna make our war needs, China?
Good friggin" luck w that.
The morons and idiots have taken over. China could "Red Dawn" the US tomorrow.
China hits the main "TV off" button for the US and 80-90% of the country would be clueless w/o the idiot box [all china made] Superstorm Sandy PROVED that.

Ok, here is what I remember from the 70's. those who wanted to ride a Harley rode a metric because we could not afford a Harley. Today you can buy any brand at close pricing so you can choose which brand suits you. I know I would have had a Harley cept for the initial cost, but we rode while dreaming of the day when...

So did the moco buy cheaper parts in order to price competitively, Yes I for one think so. Moco readily has the bolt in parts to replace the cheap parts. add on improvements have pre drilled and tapped holes.
