I don't know if this would work for painted stripes but it works great for the stick on stripes.

Default How to remove pin stripe

If the pin stripe work on your bike was applied without hardner then you will be able to easily remove it with any brand of Wax & Grease remover (cleaner). This is the material body shops use to wipe the parts with before painting. it will not harm your paint in any shape or form, but will easily remove the pin stripe lines. BUT if the striping work was done with paint and hardner, you will not be able to wipe it off. The only way will be to sand it off with 1500 grit paper, then 2000 and polish with machine. This is the only way, but also very risky, because you could sand through the clear coat and damage the original color of the bike!
Good Luck,
Tom

if you could figure out who striped it you might get a easy clue from him--------------------------Easy off has been my choice as sanding usually leaves a shadow I hate worse than the stripes when I try it

If they are over the clearcaot, you could use acetone. I once removed painted pinstripes on car and this worked great. Took a little time though.

I have seen the pinstripining guys removing them at the bike rally's with Easy Off oven cleaner but that stuff scares the hell out of me when I think about putting it on my paint. Suggestions? Somebody has got to know a way. Thanks.
1. I would strongly recommend that you DO NOT USE ACETONE 2. Don't be under the illusion that because your scooter is relatively new it has not been effected by ( at least minimally ) paint fade ( minor bleaching out of the color from the sun ) 3. If you're going to attempt to use abrasive paper ( 1500 grit and higher ) use a semi flexible sanding pad and water with a bit of soap to act as a lubricant to minimize scratches. Remember the higher the grit # the finer ( and more forgiving ) the paper is ... in closing I'd say that you would probably be better off stopping by one of the local ( and one recommended by someone who has had this type of work done there ) body and or paint shops ... It might save you a lot time, aggravation and money in the long run .... Good Luck Brother.

When I had my fairing stripped I asked the stripper if I could remove them by sanding or buffing later if I didn't like them. He said NO! The hardener used bites into the paint below. I would carefully try to sand them off with 1500 or 2000 grit wet/dry paper and then a light buffing. But be careful not to break the clear coat or you're going for a trip to the paint shop. Even if you get them off I think your going to see some "witness" marks that they were there.

I removed 7 year old pin striped flames from a black soft tail with Maguires polishing compound. It took a few hours of rubbing but they came off and didn't leave any "ghosts". It was well worth the effort and really wasn't that much of a PITA.

Thanks for all your help guys. I think I'm gonna stop by a body shop, as some recommended, and see what they say. I will let you guys know the outcome. Thanks again. Ride safe!
