I work waaay up north here and wanted one I could use on the bike and with a battery pack in the winter up here. I tried the HD one first; it failed quickly on battery pack twice...I believe because the Gerbings nano-wires are too fine to take any working motion. Gerbing replaced it directly with a 12V plug in only vest and the wife enjoy's it on her bike. I ended up with an EXO2 vest; more commercial quality AND price but this is my third winter with no problems...a 12V vest is all we need for as cold as we are willing to ride.

I have the Gerbing jacket and gloves. They work great. I believe Gerbing makes the HD heated gear. A guy I ride with got the vest last year and loves it, wishes he'd gotten it years ago. The thing with the vest vs the jacket is if you get the heated gloves at some point they plug right into leads in the sleeves of the jacket. If you're using the vest you'd need to use the supplied extension cable that plugs into the vest and run the cables down your arms to the gloves.
Also, I use a dual controller so I have separate control over the gloves and jacket.

i have the gerbings heated vest i like it better then the jacket liner Because it lets your body breathe and vent some of the heat out Gerbings is all made in the usa now they pulled out of china and they make all the hd heated gear I have the whole set though insole gloves pants vest and jacket liner don't use the jacket line unless it is really cold but then even then i prefer the vest

I have the HD brand jacket liner ,gloves and controller. Love the stuff. Took using it a couple of times to get comfortable with the wires and controller but now its no problem.
Yesterday we had a sunny, blue sky 40 degree morning out in our local foothills and this stuff made it a great ride.

I went out today at 40 degrees with gerbing jacket liner and gloves and a full face helmet. I had to turn the heat controllers down to mid point. I just wanted one last ride for the season, but the heated clothing has me thinking about going out more often until the salt is on the road anyway. With the sun shining, today was awesome. Bought this magnetic tank panel from captain itch and it makes things much easier to deal with(wires and temp control)

I love the idea of that tank panel, but do you think it would damage the paint job?

It is possible if you let the wires dangle and hit the tank or are not generally careful. But I am careful and wipe the bottom of the case before placing it on the tank
