Some of you may of heard of this attempt by Harley to produce a shaft driven motorcycle based on the BMW R71 during WWII. 1,011 were produced for US Army testing, but they decided to just stick with the WLA's...
Yep, by the time they were ready for mass production, the North African Theater was won. There were a few models with side cars produced. The side car had a driven wheel connected via shaft to the rear wheel, thus was two wheel drive.
A brother has one of those, loves doing just that too! I love them, ****ing expensive for a what they are though.
I had planned on having one by now but some medical issues have had me off work for the last three months so gonna have to wait till I can get the war chest built back up.
I went to a Ural rally a couple years back. Everyone there said they really loved them, but they were really poorly made. Several of them were being worked on in the parking lot. A few of them mentioned the best thing to do was scrap the Ural motor and install a 70's BMW motor like a /6 or /5.

I've been thinking about selling my Sporty and getting a Ural w/sidecar, but the more research I do the more I find that Ural's have a horrible reputation for reliability and while I can bolt on parts and change my oil that's about the extent of my abilities. I'm looking into getting a sidecar for my Sporty instead.
