Dog Bone Torque Wrench Adapters
There was a discussion about two weeks ago on the forum about torque wrenches. Someone mentioned dog bone torque wrench adapters and TwiZted posted a picture of his set. Unfortunately I couldn't tell the maker of them.
I tried looking at Sears for a Craftsman set and no-one there not only never heard of them, but obviously they didn't have a set. I'm willing to spend about the quality of Craftsman pricing but am not willing to go as high as the typical Snap On prices. I also want something better than I'd get from Harbor Freight.
Does anyone have suggestion on where to pick up a set? I won't be using them daily so I don't need to spend a fortune. But I also don't want crap.
A quick look at Craigslist didn't turn up any. Google wasn't much help either.
I'd prefer 12 point box ended over open ended. Unless the open ended would be a better alternative like fitting into tighter spots.
Also, what can be done similarly for tight spaces for hex and torx when torquing down? Like the rocker boxes.
Thanks

Baka, you might try this to start looking, pricey I know

I just looked at them on EBay a full set goes around $120 but individual sizes are about $20. Snap on, Matco, Proto are some of the names. Remember if you add length to a torque wrench it will increase the torque but if you put the adapter at the 90 degree position the torque will remain the same

The $158 closed end set isn't as bad as I thought. The $450 crows feet was about what I was expecting. And too much for the use they'd get.
The crows feet look a bit thinner for tighter spaces but I couldn't justify the cost.

$120 is fairly reasonable. I was surprised that I didn't find a Craftsman set. I've always liked Craftsman for the type of stuff I do. Nothing fancy. I'm certainly no pro.
Most of my primary tools are Craftsman. I buy the USA made ones when I can. Yes they still make them here. Well, some of them anyway, depending on the line. It seems the lower tiered Craftsman lines are the Chinese made tools.
Was just looking into that, I'm assuming if you used a 1 foot wrench and a 6" adapter you would deduct the Tq spec by 1/2??

adding 6" to 12" torque wrench would make it overall 1/3 longer so if you want 60 ft Lbs you would set the wench to 40 ft lbs
