my local dealer says the moco frowns on less than msrp pricing ,do you think this is true or is it just his way of not wheelin and dealin" ???
That would be a major violation of Federal Anti-Trust laws for HD to pressure dealers about pricing or discounting. Dealers here sell under MSRP all the time. I paid -$1000 last Winter for my Lowrider.
I just bought an 07 FXST from the Lansing HD dealer. $843 below MSRP. Not a huge savings, but I got my Softail for almost their asking price of a Dyna Street Bob.
Very unusual, even more so when you consider subantially fewer bikes (Touring, Softail)being produced in 07 due to the strike. You would thinkthat this would be a year that deals would be hard to finddue to supply and demand issues. Id be all over that one if I was in the market for a new one! If this deal is for Sportsters only, which harley traditionally floods the market with, andone of the line of bikesunaffected by the strike, that would make more sense. A local dealer here in Wisconsin doesdeals similar to this, butonly on the Sportsters.
Below MSRP is the sign of a dealer that cant move hisinventory. These dealers have totake a loss because the MoCo let a bunch of angry owners do so.If I read some of these topics that have gone on since bikes were released and still havent been fixed,Id be weary. Is the MoCO being run by a different company this yr?Or did they do away w/drug testing?
Great deal. I just called em, and the salesperson said that deal was over now. Said that in the winter months, particularly Decemeber and January, they'll sometimes offer $1,000 off, with no doc fee, or set up fee. Only charge a destination fee. $335 for an Ultra.
Still, they're selling at MSRP, with only the dest fee added on. Still a good deal for somebody in the market, as one of my relatives may be.
