Is it possible to buy a brand new HD from a dealer below MSRP? If so, how much are they generally willing to come off that retail price? I am getting ready to buy my first HD and would like to know what to expect when I go in to negotiate, that is, if they are willing to negotiate at all!
totally depends on quantity they have in stock of what your interested in, what time of year it is, how many other dealers are in the area and how good the economy is in your state.
In other words, you will probably pay retail and hope to get away with not paying all the BS fees they add on top.
Our dealer used to give discounts to active Service personal and people in law enforcement.
They have changed most Mgrs in the last yr so I am not sure if they still do.
I bought mine in October Last year and it was one of their last 2012 models plus it was the one I was looking at all along and I was able to get it for 1,000 below MSRP and they waived all the fees. This time of year will be tough though.
Heres the formula:
last day of the month / Time of year + any color other than black x model = best odds
My OTD + taxes was still below MSRP using this formula:
purchase date june 30 / moving inventory for overstock +White X Ultra classic
White Ultra was a bargaining tool because 3 area dealers had them and they had been sitting on the floor for over 6 months.
They also knew i had a Victory! dont tell anyone that part though!

Most dealers can come down 1000 to 1500 off msrp, or give you some other goodies (free service ,jacket etc.) but this time a year is there busy time might be a little tough to negotiate. Shop around. Good luck.
