Default Is your balance?

After 25 years a buddy of mine's wife took the plug, and bought a brand new Sportster last week. Now watchinf him try to teach her to ride is better than any T.V. you will ever see! We have a rally In Buckhorn, MO. "Mid-American freedom Ride". Is about an hour from our houses, and the usual stuff over the weekend i.e poker runs, fild games, bands etc. I can see she really has her eye on the slow ride event! How slow can you go; which brings up the dispute between my buddy and myself.

Now he surfs this site too. So, I am not going to say who has which opinoin. Here is yhe question.

Leaving out bike types, experance etc.

If your riding a bike say 5 MPH, or less and you drop the bike while attempting this. WHICH WILL MAKE THE BIKE TURN OVER THE EASIEST?

A) Turning the handle bars to the right (drivers) while trying to stop?

B) Turning to the left (drivers) will trying to stop?

Make me proud, and when me lunch.

Best thing for your friend to do is ask someone else to give his wife hints and tips and tell him to go find something else to do! They will both get along a lot quicker.....

As for your question, A or B, depending on which one is attempted first!

Sounds like she needs to take a basic MSF riding course.

Firstly, spell check is your friend.

Secondly, your question makes absolutely no sense.

You are attempting to get the engine to turn over after dropping the bike?

You are attempting to get the bike itself to roll over like a dog?

You are attempting to not drop the bike in the first place?

As much as I would like to help "when" you lunch, you can certainly see my pause for concern.......

Which arm is stronger? right or left? the stronger arm will prevail, making the bike fall over to that side the easiest...

Me thinks you are trying to say the brake on one side of the wheel is somehow going to play into a 5 mph stop?

So the question is if you are stopping from 5 mph, I assume by grabbing the front brake, and with your wheel turned, is the bike more likely to go to the ground if the wheel is turned to the left or the right? All this is without regard to rider experience or type of bike?

Hmm. I think if everything is equal then grbrown is obviously correct. Is someone more likely to recover and avoid dropping the bike under this scenario with the wheel turned one way versus the other? Maybe, based on rider position, which is the dominant hand etc.

Why does this come up when teaching your buddy's wife how to ride? Is someone suggesting that she turn the wheel one way versus the other when stopping with front brakes? Or is this one of those Seinfeld debates that is really about nothing?
