Default which harleys to look at before buying

I am looking to get a bike within a month and I been looking at possibly dynas or softails maybe others but not sure what else to look at. I'll tell you about myself and maybe I can get some tips or suggestions I am 24 yrs old 5ft 9inch 174lbs I been riding since I was 21i started on a 83 honda vt750 wasnt my style so bought a 93 suzuki katana 750 but it was a piece of crap then bought a 09 ninja zx6r loved riding it but It was to uncomfortable for me so I traded that and got a 05 vulcan 1500 and loved the ride wish it was a little bit more nimble but it was great cause I ride with my fiancé about 25% of the time but I sold it to buy a car but now im in the market for a used harley for 10k or less I like the looks of a softail but heard the dynas handle better but I dont know cause I never road a harley so any help is appreciated
Thanks

Welcome from NE Ohio.

I rode a Vulcan 1500 Classic for 10+ years & for me stock-wise, the Vulcan was more comfortable but my softail deluxe handles a helluva lot better & the comfort issues were solved with the aftermarket. So, if you want a similar style as the Vulcan but want a more "nimble" ride, I think a softail would make you happy.
I don't have any experience with Dyna's , but in reading other threads in the forum they are generally for more aggressive riders-(I mean that in a good way)! Just my .02.

I'd take this part of your post (minus the 10K part) and go test ride some at a local dealer (Yes, even if your not going to buy from them). That may help you decide.

Gotta find away to test ride'em brotha. Test ride at the Harley dealers, test ride from the want ads, and test ride on Demo Days. Demo Days are when Harley brings a bunch of bikes across the country stopping at Harley dealers and events across the country for the sole purpose of what you are looking to do.

Best of luck to you and welcome!

Well my fiance and I ride 2 up on a sportster and we got a little in the middle. She says she's comfortable on it but if it was in the cards I'd trade up to a softy or road king they're just built much better for it.

Craigslist and be patient to save money.....
Dyna's i'd look at low rider or wide glide.
Softails I personally like the custom or any springer.

I'm leaning towards a softail but we will see when I get test rides

Test riding is the best way. If you have to, sit on all of the different models, see how they feel when you set the up. Talk to the sales people, that's their job.
