It was time for the 1K service on my RGC CVO, contacted my "Local" dealer, price = $355. with two week wait. Really! two weeks...
Called the dealer I actually purchased the bike from, $407. and they could do it literally while I waited. I actually had some business to take care of and a ride along so not really waiting in the store.
4 miles to my local and 160 miles to my purchasing dealer.
Drove down to the purchasing dealer, while there I ordered the Tour Pack with detachable hardware, $2,264.
Quote from my local was $3,140.
$876. in accessory savings. I did spend about $40. on fuel, but I got to ride so I have a hard time deducting the fuel cost.
I guess I am going to take advantage of the ride more often, while there I added some highway pegs, I know it's not much but they installed them for free.
Do you have a service manual yet? It pays for itself within a couple of oil changes. Even if you dont want to work on the bike, its nice for learning about your bike and what the dealership is doing to your bike.
Glad you got what you wanted done at a price you are happy with tho.
1K service is nothing more than an oil change. The rest of the service is check this and that. Nothing you can not do yourself. And you will not void the warranty. My dealer wants $500 for my 1K. I just bought a 13 Heritage and have about 750 miles on it. Ill ride it this week when Im off and finish off the break-in then change the oil myself. Mobile 1 V-twin in two holes and Mobile 1 Synthetic gear lube LS 75W-90 for the tranny. I bought a motorcycle jack from Harbor Freight for $80.00 and two torque wrenches from Sears for $160, one inch pounds and the other foot pounds. And last but not least the shop manual for $60. Now with oil filter and oil that all added up to just about 400.00 dollars. So the rest of my oil changes will save me big money and time having to wait on the dealer. There are plenty of youtube video's on doing fluid changes on many different Harley's to also help out.
Also when I bought my Heritage, the dealer offered to install my slip-on's telling me it should only take a couple of hours. I said no thanks took them home with me and installed them in 30 minutes total time removing the stock mufflers and installing the slip-on's. Again, more youtube video's to assist you with exhaust systems.
Ride safe!
Same experience here, I have a local dealer within 15 miles but I bought and continue to buy parts and service from a dealer 40 miles away. I'm like you, hard to complain about the fact I have to ride an extra half hour to a dealer I'm happy with. Go Destination Harley!

I was in the automotive business for years and I made more money on the customers who "blew off" their initial service ( Nothing More Than An Oil Change ) than you could shake a stick at ... and they'd drive 'em 'til something that could have been fixed ( or adjusted ) for free took a dump and was out of warranty ... Granted some of the tech's are "pencil pushers" but due diligence in seeking a reputable service facility will pay untold dividends later down the line!

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
Being that I spent my early years as a wrench monkey and have wrenched my own bikes, trucks, cars, RV and such for over forty years, I am not unwilling to do my own maintenance, as a matter of fact, it is my plan to take on all maintenance short of Warranty repairs from this point on. the 1K is more a matter of CYA if something were to happen down the road. I've seen first hand how warranty works. It doesn't take much for the rep to decline a claim.
Now as far as the 1K, an oil change might be what some folks are doing but I assure you, this is not what took place with my bike, I gave them a specific list of items to check and or adjust based on the the 1000 miles I rode.
There were clear differences in the ride home (160 miles), triple clamp bearings tightened, brake pads not rattling, drive belt tightened. comfort adjustments were also performed. Now I didn't watch the guy, but I did spend about an hour in the shop going over what was done and suggestions going forward.
I own the tools, I have the jack, this aint my first rodeo.
