So I came home from work today and my temporary plate was taken off the bike. Turns out the teenager left the garage open after he got home. Fortunately they didn't take any of my snowboards (one's worth over $1500) or anything else. The Dumba$$ actually missed the plate I had on the shelf from my old bike. Our big MDA ride is this weekend-hopefully I can get either another temporary or my regular plates come in. This is a guy I'd like to punch in the throat!
Yeah, that sucks. I had my garage broken into a while back. At first I didn't think anything was missing til the following Monday I went in there to work out and noticed my lifting gloves were gone. That was annoying. Then about a month later I noticed that my circular saw was gone too. Really pissed me off. That ***** is lucky I didn't catch his *** cuz I doubt anyone thinks a pair of gloves and a saw is worth takin a bullet over. I hope you get a tag in time for your ride.
Had my plates stolen a couple of times, but that was in the before time in the long long ago. Stock setups don't appear to secure them very well. Since I started using plate frames with allen bolts I've been able to keep them.
I have heard this happening a lot with bikes. That blows. Not so much that the tag is gone, but that some douchebag went into your garage and took it. I'm sure you can get a new temp by this weekend....but still
Sorry to hear about your theft, but don't understand why anyone would want a temp plate when they had full access to your garage contents...just curious?
You need one of these. I have had no problems with anyone coming near or on the property.
Ha ha! I do have one of those but he's a working dog so he was with me at the time. I'm guessing that they might not have gotten too carried away because the teenager was home at the time. He said someone rang the doorbell but he was in the bathroom.

I was thinking the same thing!
I have my plate tie wrapped to the frame, so the thieving POS better have some wire cutters or a sharp knife.

I'm guessing it was one of two things. First off the only things of real value were the snowboards and a mountain bike. I keep my tools in the basement. The mountain bike was suspended over the HD so it would have taken a little doing to get that.
I also wonder if they realized someone was home. If they saw the garage open with no cars they may have thought we just forgot to close it. Glad they didn't try to come in the house. The teenager was home alone.
