I have had issues with the HD ride planner of late. You cannot drag a route to a new road any more. Called HD a few weeks back and still no fix. Anyone know of a similar ride planning program, Google maps doesn't seem to edit a ride plan very well either.
I only use Tyre to Travel. It's free and very user friendly.
Tyre works with Garmin and Tom Tom to upload routes.
I love planning routes before the ride...and Tyre is a lot better than HD.
If you use Tyre, send me an email and I'll share a few tips to save you some time...especially when it comes to confirming the uploaded route does not get converted into something different by Google maps during the upload...and also using the preferences to set avoidances--to either select highways or non highways etc.

Good luck.
I saw this thread after starting one about HD Ride Planner. I've seen you recommend Tyre before so I d/l it. I can't believe how easy it is! There's things to learn, of course, but my first try was successful. I sent you a PM.
