Default no groupie

If I waited for everyone that wants to go for a ride I'd never leave the shop. It's just best for getting in the most of my riding but I do like groups when it get's organized cuz most of us won't drink till the end of the day.

Default Got that right

Oh yeah, ridin solo is the real deal. Do what ya want, when ya want. No babysitting lame riders or stoppin every half hour for **** breaks or food or beer or tokes or any other crap that gets in the way of what it's really all about. RIDING !! Have people forgotten that thats why we are on the road ?
I just got back from touring Europe for the mont of June on my 94 Road King. I have friends in Germany, so I hooked up with them and let me tell ya, riding with 7 people was new to me, and I kinda expected that I wouldn't get the miles on that I normally do while riding alone, but being a stranger in a strange land, I felt more comfortable being with friends who spoke the languge, and new the lay of the land.
I was really dissapointed in how little we got on the speedo each day.
I loved the roads and the scenery and will go back, but will do it alone, or maybe one other that I know who is a high mile rider as well.
The point is; If ya like putting on the miles and like to explore on a whim, RIDE ALONE !!

I guess you'd say that I'd rather be solo. Really, I'm more comfortable with my wife behind me--just me and her. She's been on 99% of my rides for 35 years. We used to do a lot of group riding back when I was heavy into H.O.G. and we had a lot of fun. But, group riding has it's own set of drawbacks--when are we leaving, where are we going, how often are we going to stop, oh, I don't like that restaurant, etc., etc. So after all these years the group stuff has just about fizzled out. Anyway, HD dealer here sucks and I don't go there anymore so the chapter is out for me. I still love to ride though just as much now as I did years ago.

I have ridden to Alaska, across the US twice and to the west coast several times by myself. Most of my riding buddies are still working and can't take the time off or they are out of work and want me to pay their way. It is much simpler to just go by yourself.

With the right group, once in a while it can be fun and interesting. But riding a bike is, in its purest form, a solitary experience. I love being alone with the machine and the road.

Default Riding solo vs group

I ride once a week with asmall group, either a breakfast or lunch ride. Everyone knows the destination. I enjoy that comaraderie. Have left other groups when 'squids' act out or drinking is involved.

Longer rides, usually with one other rider with the same interests and riding style. The ride ground rules are set before the rides start. Touring, usually solo or with rider above. Same scenario. At the end of the day I enjoy sharing the ride with another rider over a meal and a beer. I refuse to put myself on a timetable, this place at this time. Some days I might ride 500 miles, another 150 depending on how things are going, mentally and physically.

Lately, I've been riding with a pal, who's shares many of the same interests. But I'm known to do my own thing more often than not.

Riding solo or with a friend is so much better than group riding
