I was a paper boy back in 1965-66 one of the houses i delivered to had a big harley up on a stand. one day he asked if i would like to go inside to show me around the bike...liked motorcycles from early age had been for rides on my uncles triumph tiger norton commando ....had to sit on the tank only about 4 at the time... well after seeing that harley i was hooked ...if i feel a bit down in the dumps i just start my bike up hairs on back of neck stick up heritage softail classic....just luv it
loved harleys since that day in 1965-66 also like old brit bikes
went in to a cafe in 60s bikes parked outside full of rockers juke box
blasting out rock an roll people dancing...was magic
When I was in elementary school (the 60's), I walked past my neighbor's house twice every day.
His name was Art Tolman, and he and his wife Linda owned 2 full dress Harley's.
These were the bikes that had about 50 lights all over the back.
I was very impressed with the both of them riding their Harley's. They we always dressed in the full Harley outfit of the day.
One year, Art built two custom Panhead choppers, they were amazing to me at my young age, chopped with extended fronts ends, and custom paint, all done my Art himself.
The Tolman's started my love of Harley's and motorcycles way back then, even when I was in the 4-5 grade. I would always stop by and ask Art all kinds of questions about what he was doing in the shop, probably made a PITA of myself, but he was always glad to share what he was doing with me.
Thank you Art and Linda for starting my dream!
The loud pipes always called my attention as a kid. I told myself I would get one some day and ride it when ever I could. So when I could afford one I did. Now Im on my third bike.
I have been on motor bikes since I was 6 and I'm 35 now. Harley's have alway sounded cool to me, I love a bad *** sounding vehicle no matter what it is. I got into Sport bikes and loved them, but some of the guys I rode with had HD's as well as some of my fam members. Well I sold my custom truck to get my XL50 so I could still keep my new at the time 2008 Kaw ZR1000. I had both the sport bike and the HD for awhile, ended up trading the Kaw for an 08 1200C so I had 2 HD's, but then traded the 1200C for a 72 Nova-should have never sold the Nova, but that's a differant story. Anyways I still have my XL50 and no matter how many times I think about selling her I don't as I love that bike and me with out an HD is just wrong feeling.
i raced mx cross because I wanted to jump like Evel Knevel and got into harleys because of the first 5min of the movie Harley davidson and Marlboro man. That part blasting down the freeway does it every time.
I've always liked bikes but when I was a kid, all there were was dressers. When I got in high school, I saw a magazine article on the Angels and it was then, I wanted to be a biker. And of course, they rode Harleys. So when I went to Nam, I started saving my money and got a Panhead when I got out. I customized all the way...long front end, tall sissy bar, upsweep fishtails, lots of chrome and I didn't even know how to drive/ride it.
So I guess you could say it was the Angels that got me hooked.

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
On a family trip, we were at a local tourist trap. Heard a distant rumble and a saw a ton of headlights twinkling in the distance. Waited for the bikes to go by, close to 100 Harley's. Then the bug just jumped up and bit me, literally had goose bumps. And that my lads is my story and I'm sticking to it.
