Well, my dad has been without a bike for a few years. And, he's wanted a Heritage Softail since I was about 8 (I'm now 30). So, when I pulled into his driveway with my first Harley last week, he decided it was time to get his.
I went with him today to pick it up, and we spent the afternoon "bonding" on the road.
Anyone else bond with their family this way? It's hard to imagine a cooler way to "hang out" with Dad. =)
Yup. My son and I ride together. First major trip was BC to Wa, Or, Cali and back. Eight days of sunshine and awesome roads. Done a couple of smaller rides since then and this year its BC, Mt, Wy, and back. His younger bro is looking at getting his bike license as well. Great way to spend time with them
My dad passed when I was to young and dumb to appreciate him. There were only a couple of bonding moments between us before he was gone.
My father in law and I get along well, do some things together, and he has always treated me like a son. He has been riding forever. I realized in the last couple of years that time is fleeting. Knowing what I missed with my own dad, I decided to start riding again because I'm not sure how many years of riding the FIL has left.
This spring he bought a bike for my son and now we all ride together......sort of. Since they are like two peas in a pod, I ride in back and get great pleasure watching them ride side by side and goofing around with each other.
My son and I are taking a 4 day trip in the near future. He will ride my ultra classic and I will ride a rental. I am really looking forward to this time with my son. He's 23 and at that age there isn't much time for me. College and other things take a front seat to much time with me. Just thankful to get whatever time I can.
