Default Open belt drive

Hi i posted this question on the softail section ...no one could answer...i have a 5 speed twin cam 88, im thinking of switching to bel drive...the thing is ive seen all these shovel heads with open primarys but with no support plate behind the front pulley and clutch ...can i do this on a twin cam.? And is it possible if i do it by myself i mean like a diy sort of thing....

Other than looks. What are the benefits of the open drive?

I believe a belt drive eliminates the need for a compensator, but I've been wrong about more simple things before...

No primary oil to change.
Clutch maintenance is less aggravating?
No primary gasket costs.
Also, coolness factor goes up 60-70%!

I mounted a Ultima Belt vintage ( not a 4inchees ...but a 2.2"on my Dyna 2005 TwinCam 88ci

--> I love it

and not more than 1000$ on Ebay . a really good parts

It eliminates the comp and the primary oil bath but you then need a dry plate clutch. I would consider one as they seem very reliable but I would not run it completely open.
