My friend puts the rock between her lips and looks up as she spits it out. She hits their windshield every time. She used to flick them over her shoulder but stopped doing that because the car can see you doing that.
I carry a bunch of pennies in my windshield pouch for the same think, then some 3/4 inch steel ball bearings if the pennies don't work.

The purpose I assume is to back them off....(?)
If they don't know that you threw, spit or flipped the rock, how does that back them off ?
( Of course if they do realize that you were responsible for damaging their car, you'd best have a damn fast motorcycle...)
You did the right thing - letting the moron pass you. Road rage with a car is never a good idea when you're on a motorcycle.
Yep this is true. I'm not sure what it is about this summer, but it seems everytime I'm out on one of the bikes at least one car has to ride my *** and I don't ride slow, I'm a good 10 over the limit guy most of the time, sometimes more depending the roads and where I'm at. It seem it happen more on the Custom C50 than the HD, but I have been riding it more so who knows? Come to think of it when I'm in my Jeep it seems someone has to ride *** and again I'm a 10 over or more guy and my Jeep is fast so it not like I'm taking off from the lights like an old man.

If you're driving behind another vehicle and a rock flies out of the tire and hits your windshield, do you stay right on their bumper? No you don't, you back off. All they see is a rock hitting their windshield and they will assume it came out of your tire.
