I have an 05 Deluxe with 16" apes and I need a windshield for long rides. My bars are rolled forward and I don't want to roll them back and I don't want to buy and windshield and have to trim it to fit properly. Anyone have any suggestions on a quick detach windshield? Will the stock HD windshield work? If not what should I look for? Thanks
I dont know much about Apes but I know from a recent fiasco with a Deluxe windshield the stock nastalgia type from Harley actually leans back twards the rider and would most likely not work with your bars rolled forward.
Have you looked at Slipstream's Tombstone windshield? Beast put one on his Softail Standard Custom with 16" apes. His is clear and almost invisible. Despite the small size it take the brunt of the wind off him.

Plus one on the slip streamers. I have the viper model. They clamp to the handle bars. When I switched to apes, I had no problem using this shield. They are clear and have a low profile to them. I had a bit of buffeting when I went to the apes. Another member told me to mount the shield vertical instead of in line with the forks. Works perfect now. And they are fairly inexpensive.

You have a pic of how the windshield looks on your bike? Thanks
I have a Windvest on my Fatboy also with 16" apes. Its a far forward as it will go in the picture because of the Nacelle, although I recently ground a little off the bottom and pushed the bars further forward
