Or maybe it was. Out for a ride with the wife on back. Just a 150 mile day ride. Was at a light and noticed a pickup pulling a open landscape type trailer had 2 kayaks and a canoe laid in the trailer without a single strap. Couldn't get past him because of other traffic so I stayed back a bit. Ended up behind him as we got up to speed. I was still wanting around him when of course the canoe became air born. What a sight, a full size canoe thirty feet in the air coming at you. Yelled to my wife to hold on as I hit the brakes hard. Got her stopped without hitting and even avoided the paddles that were flying out of the canoe. It was a good thing the canoe slid on the road as I stopped well past where it hit the road the first time. Needless to say I was a might bit pissed off at this point. I stopped said my piece to the azzhat that was to busy to tie down his load, called the cops and fixed him up with a loose load ticket. I blocked his path to leave so he had to wait for the police. He failed to understand why I was upset, "it was just an accident dude".
Cops came I left to continue my ride. Continue my ride and not two miles further avoid a car that failed to stop at their stop sign. Nearly got T-boned. Another very close call. Come around a nice curve to have two raccoons run across the road in front of me. Missed them by about a foot and a half. Three close calls in about as many miles. My wife said maybe we weren't spose to be riding today. Used up a bit of my brakes today but got home safe and sound. I am glad I drive with my eyes open!
