Question 2014 Touring, Fairing Question

So the 2014's are out. I've seen a few pictures. There is some kind of a vent in the front of the batwing fairing. I think air enters around the headlight and exits through this vent below the windshield. This is supposed to reduce wind buffeting.
Anybody else seen this?
Anybody understand the engineering behind this and care to explain the logic?
Thanks!

I looked at one today and vent is just an air vent if you want a breeze hitting you in the face.

Theoretically, it should help decrease buffeting. It also will allow cooling air to hit the rider.

Air enters the vent on the outside under the windshield and exits inside the fairing just behind the windshield. Suppose to decrease buffeting.

Something most metrics have had. Nice in theory. I was hoping with the redesign for an adjustable windshield, lower it like a chopped windscreen and raise it up on the freeway.

It should balance the low pressure area behind a fairing. That is usually what caused buffeting...

Those bat wings push a huge hole in the air, creating a vacuum behind them. Air rushes into this Vacuum and causes buffeting.

The vent takes air building up from in front of the fairing and channels it into the vacuum area behind.

This controlled air balances the pressure behind the fairing and reduces turbulance.

Since the vent can be opened or closed, depending on the riders preference, the best operating condition can be used for different circumstances.

Might also reduce lift and improve aerodynamics, but I have not seen claims to that effect.

That hole better be water/moisture tight or that will create more problems for the electronics than you can shake a stick at.

I hope that they have dielectric greased all their connections..and have a sealed radio unit.
