A bit of advice for anyone planning on making a trip to Tennessee to ride the Dragon. Be very cautious. Semi's travel that road and come around those curves on the wrong side of the road. Ride with some sense, it's a beautiful ride but has claimed more than its share of victims. It takes a long time to get an ambulance there to get you out. Just sayin'. Enjoy the ride, stay alive.
If you do this ride really early in the morning, and I'm talking just as the sun comes up, you will avoid most of the retards and trucks. It makes for a much nicer, less crowded, safer ride.
I do the same thing in the mountains out west to avoid crowds, campers, trucks, etc.
I would like to go there one day. All the accidents and stupid drivers make me nervous and I just don't know if I can make myself ride over 800 miles each way just to ride the dragon.

I ride 800 miles each way 2 or 3 times a year to visit not just the Dragon, but the many other roads with great riding in the area. Yea, it's worth it, especially if you spend the rest of the year riding the boring, flat, straight roads in the likes of TX or FL.
Best advice, is to plan hitting the Dragon on Mon - Thrus, and avoid the weekend crowds and traffic.
