Sometimes you get lucky.
Yesterday I went on a day ride to the Four Corners Rally in Ignacio, Colorado. Overall, it was a nice 450 mile day. The rally itself was pretty lame, especially comparing it to the last time I was there in 1999. Then I got a speeding ticket on the beginning of the ride home. The same highway that has a 60mph speed limit in Colorado has a 45mph speed limit in New Mexico. In fairness to the cop, his speed trap was 8 or 10 miles into New Mexico, not just right over the border, so I did have plenty of time to slow down.
About 100 miles from home, I rode into a huge thunderstorm. This baby looked nasty. Black sky, with lightning hitting all around. The closer I got, the more I knew that I was going to end up drenched. As I got under it though, it still hadn't started to rain. The lightning intensified, and I could see rain pounding down within a mile of the road, but still no rain where I was riding. I ended up riding all the way under the storm without getting wet at all. I stopped on the other side and snapped a picture.
