Yesterday I was talking to a older guy who was on his Goldwing trike. We got to talking and he said that he traded off his BMW touring bike because his wife got to fat and he'd had issues with balance on that bike at stops etc. His wife was standing with him and she slugged him. He then told me that in Vietnam, both of his legs were blown off below the knee and he had two artificial legs. This guy had no limp or odd walk, and my expression must have looked like I did not believe him so he pulled up a pant leg, and sure enough. He said that now since they were retired and touring on a bike, it was just a bit to much for him, so they switched to the trike. Prior to that though he had always been on two wheels, and was sad that he never got a Ultra. That is how the conversation started. Anyway, get your leg fixed up, once the rehab is over you will be able to do anything you could before. That guy was a inspiration for me.

Getting my right hip replaced Nov 11. Not looking forward to it but anything to get rid of the pain will be a blessing. I am nervous and a bit concerned about post-op conditions. I was told last March that hip replacement was "recommended" but I said, "See you in the fall, I got motorcycles miles to ride this summer." Doc smiled and said, "We'll see." Its been a struggle this summer but at least I got to ride until now. I am 64.
