3 years of shots both knees, right one swells horrible now and I guess its time doc says and I agree. I got a fmla on them and 3 months short term disability then no cash coming in. so I gotta bust *** and make sure I can get back to work at the end of that 3 months. wow this makes me nervous cause I could wind up unemployed for the first time ever if I caint get it together by then, I do hard labor so this will be very hard but hey I ride a Harley so I guess I can do this chit. hope to be throwing my leg over my roadglide and seeing you all out there soon.
I have had both hips replaced about 10 years ago, you will be nervous but fine, do your therapy. Ask if they are going to want blood for the surgery, if so, donate your own blood at the center, called auto, you have less chance of rejection with your own blood.
know several people that have done it with great success. also, one guy that did not do his therapy and exercises(fat and lazy) that had problems. you sound like a hard worker and should have no problems. good luck for a quick and full recovery.
Listen To the above advise about blood and work HARD at therapy. It's amazing what they can do. My wife had both of hers done was able to do everything but kneel on them in three weeks. A friend had one of his done and walked in to the eagles club for drawing night 4 days latter and back to work in two weeks. The hardest thing will be the scar tissue on the front of the knee makes it hard to kneel for quit a while.
Like said before. Do your PT, make sure you get up and move around a lot. As I had blood clots afterwards that may or may not have been from sitting too long. Really be aware of getting hooked on pain killers. I didn't think I was, but boy when I stopped...I was cranky and felt like crap.
I was pro-active on my PT and recovered quickly and feel great today.
I had a Total knee done in 2009, I was out for 8 weeks (the doctor was a friggin joke), then I had that knee partially redone in 2011.. Better doctor but he couldn't quite get it right... I just had the knee TOTALY REDONE.. They ripped everything out and started over ... The good news is that on my last surgery I had a competent doctor.... I walked out of the hospital 2 days later with nothing but a cane!!! Make sure you do the therapy and listen to the dr's and the therapist!! Do the extra exercises at home too and you shouldn't have a problem.. I was back to work this last time in 5 weeks... Plus chick's dig scars...
I haven't had the knee replaced but I did have Major Shoulder Surgery last April 2013 ( Torn Rotator Cuff in two places, partially torn Bicep, partially torn bicep tendon, partially torn shoulder ligament and Major Bone Spurs ) and I'm doing quite well ... PHYSICAL THERAPY is the key to recovery ... WORK, WORK, WORK ... I should note that where I went to physical therapy there were two older who both had a knee replaced and they were recovering quite quickly ... Once again, the term of recovery is really in your hands ( well, knee ) Good Luck with the surgery and God's speed on the recovery.
