Angry I really hate inconsiderate dipsticks

On my way home last night from a good days ride. Taking my time on a back road I know very well with my feet up on the highway pegs. Come around a corner and some jackass had just cut his grass and the road was covered in it. Bike got all squirrely and thought I was going down.

Buddy and I were talking about this recently and he said a person could probably sue the property owner in such a case if they did go down. I wonder....

That is a major pet peeve of mine. It's just plain inconsiderate. When I cut the shoulder in front of my house I go out of my way to blow everything towards the ditch.

Yep, my grandad taught me how to now the lawn when I was little. Fences or roads, the grass only goes into your own yard. It's just considerate. None thrown into the neighbors yard, none in the street or driveway.

In the spring and summer in rural Indiana the grass with everything else gets blowed right on the road . A lot of farmers use Brush Hogs on the side of the roads . Grass is not mowed until late spring or early summer so it is high . The state and county don,t mow much any more so when the farmer does it you will see a mess on the road .

The prolific "I have a pickup truck", "Mow and Blow" profession in Commiefornia always uses Echo backpack power to blow debris into the street.

Those guys do a good job for a pretty reasonable price if you ask me. And they are making an honest living.

You should move to a state you're more comfortable with. Plenty in line to take your place.

Blowing lawn debris into the street, creates more problems than just that. Most of it ends up in the gutters and the storm drains get clogged, and that makes another entire mess.

People are just inconsiderate. When you reverse your direction on every lap, then you can mulch up the cut grass even more, and this makes the lawn look even better. And it decomposes faster too.

...and I've never seen any of them just blow cuttings into the road.

Yes, crap in the road is a pain but I'm going to get a bit righteous here.

You need to ride according to the conditions.

I live in the countryside. Plenty of single lane roads with blind corners.
I could take them at a fair old lick but around that corner could be a tractor with farm implements hanging out, mud in the road, escaped livestock or even a broke down car.

It doesn't matter what you think your rights are. or what the speed limit is.
You ride as fast as you can see and allow yourself stopping time "just in case".
Keep your anticipation levels up. Approaching a gas station? There's probably going to be people pulling in or out.
Approaching a sub division on a nice day? Possibly grass cuttings in the road or kids on bicycles. You get my drift.

That way, we all get to live longer and keep enjoying our bikes.

Ride safe

Yeah, something I am **** about. I have a couple hundred feet of frontage and am careful to not only not get any grass on the road but also stop my zero when a vehicle is coming by until they pass. That is another one that irks me is people that just keep throwing their grass or maybe even stones onto a road whenever a bike/cage rides by.

Like I said Adam, I know this road very well and was in no hurry. It is indeed farm area but it was already dark. This was only a few miles from home, which is where most accidents statistically happen. Guess I better move...

This was just a case of a jerk without the common decency or sense to know any better. That is something I am convinced of. Best guess is most people that do this simply do not know any better, lacking 2 brain cells to rub together.
