So, I need an extender for my kickstand. I'd prefer to not have to drill a hole into the kickstand. Has anyone found one that clamps on? Or some other method of attachment...If so, what are your thoughts and experiences with the product?
Um, yes...thank you oct1949. I think most people google and search forums before posting a question. I was trying to ask if there was someone who had an extender that didn't involve drilling a hole and if they were happy with it. Wouldn't hurt to know where the item was bought too.
I was having difficulty catching the tab with my heel also. I special ordered the Harley extender but after it arrived the service department felt it was incompatible with my extended floorboards. They gave me a refund then looked in one of the aftermarket accessory catalogs and found one cheaper than the HD model which does not require drilling and was a straight extension. It slides over the existing tab so you basically decide how much or little to overlap then tighten a countersunk allen screw. Works fine for me. I don't know if I still have the receipt but send a PM and I can ask the dealer to look it up in their computer, they usually have a record of purchases that should identify the manufacturer.
I have used the clamp on extender and the one tat requires you to drill a hole in the stand. The grief of having to drill the hole is offset how much better a product that one is.
Drag Specialties no drilling, they may have others, i works fine, I would say anything that avoids drilling into an OEM part is superior, this is not a structural item and you have the freedom to readjust the positioning if you change shoes or boots later. Plus there's no " nut" to vibrate loose, but it is ugly if you care. No one's gonna see it unless you're parked.
