I've always felt the the Harley motor, is what makes the bike a Harley. Anyone can weld a frame, but that doesn't make it a Harley. Not many people have the ways and means to completely build a motor from scratch. So to remain a true Harley (at least to me) you have to use the factory motor. You could put a $8500 Rev Tech motor in a Harley frame and still have a hard time getting $5k for it. While the S&S motor is nice, it doesn't have Harley DNA in it.,,

FWIW S&S does the re build program for Harley and their motors use Harley cases.

Making the parts and working on them, is not the same thing. Unless it starts life with Harley vin number on it, it isn't a Harley. I'm not putting S&S down in any way, but their motor isn't a Harley motor .Same style or design if you will, but they are an after market replacement.

S&s has a great program with the twincams taking the stock moter splitting the cases and using there heavy duty flywheel and bearings and top end of choice or leave it stock when it's done everything is the same they use ur old cases but with there updated flywheel and bearings the moters now bullet prof
