Will be coming down from Wa State, rolling down Nev/cal 395 to Big Pine and cutting over on 168 into Nevada. Has anyone traveled this route in April, that can give me an idea of road / weather conditions on 168 to 95 that time of year?
We are dry as a popcorn fart so far this year so you shouldn't see any snow but it can get damn windy & cold out that way , nights can really put the chill on .
Might want to re-think your route. Been down there 3 times and always found snow, rain and downright bone chilling cold every time. At least until we got pretty close to Vegas. We usually take 95 (from Spokane) down through Idaho and catch 84. We then stop for the night at Jack Pot and travel 93 down to Vegas where we leave the trailer and ride nice and warm over to Laughlin.
Last time we did that trip there was a drought also and when we left Jackpot the temp was 16 degrees.
Your trip includes mostly high country that is beautiful in the summer but cold as hell in April.
Have fun and ride safe any way to go.

95 looks just as bad as 395 but looks like it goes through even more mountains and has a back road type feel. It looks like 395 would clear up in Southern Oregon.
Its the pass on 168 over to 95 from 395 that has my concern, somewhere part of 168 is closed during winter, I have not yet figured out just where its closed. If I keep banging these keys long enough, I'm sure the internet will spit out the Info. Or I could just roll down 95 out of Carson city.
Though this is a dry year in Cali (major drought), that path takes you past Mammoth. They've had *only* 48" of snow so far this year. Look at the snowfall/temps at various points along the route in April. Then decide. That info should be available on the web.
It's a beautiful ride. But weather/temp-wise, at that time of year you might be better off coming down a more westerly (and lower) route, then cutting east when you get down south.
If you did the route you're contemplating in July/August, it would be a good run and you wouldn't freeze your tail off.
