Default Tuner overkill??

I'm going to be installing a new 2>1 exhaust. I have an Ness air cleaner. I don't have plans to do cams or anything else but it could happen in the future.

I'm thinking I need the best tuner so I don't have to buy another one later but maybe that's not what I need?

I'm torn between TTS Mastertune and Powervision but I'm thinking they may be overkill and so haven't excluded other options like Power Commander or Micro Tuner.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Personal experiences?

At what tuners cost, I'd try to find one that will easily let you control the tune. Just in case you make those future mods sooner than you think.

Sounds like you are OK with mediocre...skip a tuner completely or go with one of the fuel-only types.

If you're not getting a flash tuner which gives you access to everything your ECM can do, you're leaving stuff on the table. Both the Powervision and the TTS Mastertune fit this bill, but the Powervision is much, much more user-friendly.

Buy once, cry once, and do it right.

No I never said that at all but thanks for nothing anyway.

I said I was torn between the PV and TTS.

I have no experience with either so I hadn't completely ruled out any others.
I wondered if a tuner like the PV or TTS would be overkill based on the experiences of others.
I think I ask that because some might not want or need so much power or flexibility or ability and might be more "set it and forget" types.

I'm not technologically challenged and no I don't want a mediocre tuning on my bike.

It seems the biggest difference the TTS and PV is the interface, is that correct?

Have you actually used both? And if so you did your own tunes and preferred the PV?

The following link has a good overview of the options-

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/elect...uning-etc.html

On bikes where I just want a little richer tune to get rid of the HD lean condition in closed loop I use an XiED product. Click HERE for more info.

On a bike that I want to get the most I can out of, I use the Power Vision from Fuel Moto.

Yes, yes, and yes.

Either the PV or the TTS will help you generate an excellent tune, but the PV offers a display and a much better UI.

Both the PV and TTS are excellent choices. The PowerVision is more user-friendly and will be easier to get to grips with. The TTS is more flexible and can adjust more settings and is probably more widely supported by dyno shops. Don't waste your money on other tuners (unless you have the cash for something like a Thundermax) as they just won't give you as good a result.

There is a possibility of causing some heat-related damage if you run the pipes without adjusting the tune somehow.
