Hello I am in the market for a shovelhead.. There is a guy here selling a 83 flhtc for pretty cheap.. My question is what is the difference between say a fxe, flh and flhtc frame wise? I want to make a swing arm chopper.. Is the. 83 flhtc the same frame as the late 70's flh or fxe? I know the motor is a bit bigger. This thing has a fairing and all kinds of bags I would take off. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Wasn't the same frame , that model was based on the on rubber mount with a 5 speed design with the 80" motor . I personally didn't care for the funky looking tank & dash setup but is was a nice riding bike , if all the extra bags & trunk are there it would be a good buy if the price is right
I want to chop a 70s shovelhead.. Fxe,flh.. Either way a vintage bike is getting chopped.. Haha
Go find an ironhead sportster then please , those deserve it or if you absolutely have to at least find one somebodies ***** rigged to hell and gone to trash , leave the stockers alone .
Thanks.. That's pretty much what I was asking about.. Gonna go with a 70s fxe or flh
FLH is a touring bike, not what you want as a source for a custom chopper. Will not lend itself to what you want at all! Wrong stock.
FLHTC is the ElectraGlide Classic...to be specific of the FLH models.
You wanna "chopper" up a bike, go with an XL (sporster) or custom after market frame.
