They (sadly) live for these threads.
If he didn't want to hear the opinions, he shouldn't have asked for them. Whenever someone posts something like this up, they're asking for feedback.

The thing is that he didn't ask for opions....or at least the way I read his thread. He was glad to finally get it. Likes the way it looks and how it hangs and where he got it from if anybody was interested.

Like I said maybe I missed something but didn't read where he's asking for anybody's opinion.

I got no use for one personally nor care for them but hey, it aint my money nor my choice. Enjoy it guy.

Re-read my second sentence. I should have added IMO. When you post something like this, you do so with the knowledge that you are inviting all kids of opinions from the peanut gallery. I didn't post one myself because I'm with you. Do what you want with your bike and your money.

So the idea is you detach it and use it to brake someone's windshield if they are crowding you? Otherwise, it's there for looks and visibility?

Sorry, the car is going to win that one. And a metal flake helmet might work better to be seen.

Anywho, enjoy it if makes your ride any better.

If the bike it's self hasn't gotten someone's attention, what would make anyone think that a little piece of colored rope flapping in the breeze is gonna do that?

It's considered a deadly weapon in CALIFORNIA, and will get you pulled over.

I think they're also known to cause cancer in California.

True, but, hopefully, they will realize that the people they get feedback from on this forum, especially on threads like this, are mostly not the same kind of people they will meet riding real Harleys in the real world.

Only illegal if they have the quick disconnect clasp that "real" get backs whips have. you can have one if it permanently attached and not by quick release.

If it's purely for visibility purposes, this makes more sense than a get-back whip:
