Looking at buying a bike about 1000 miles from home. Looking for recommendations, or warnings about, a motorcycle shipping company. I've checked on Haulbikes.com, nice webpage, seems fairly straight forward, but there are a lot of others out there, and I'd like to hear from anyone who's shipped a bike long distance. Thanks in advance for your input.
I would have too if it wasn't December and the bike wasn't in Montana. The dealer I bought from used Haul Bikes. If you're not in a big hurry they're fine and the price is right. Mine took two months.
I used HaulBikes 3 years ago from FL to MA in March ... the do HD stores to HD stores privately, not related to MoCo new bike shipping from factory
they were way over booked and my bike was 2 weeks late
the trailer driver is private contractor, was a great guy, explained that every 2 weeks his run was FL to Wisconsin (? company home base) & back. At Wisconsin another truck runs to New England & back every 2 weeks ...
Driver explained that the Parent Co knew they could NOT handle the orders but just take orders unlimited ... and get away with it ...
I got about $150 refund for late delivery - a full 2 weeks late - which is what I paid for extra insurance
If your bike is damaged the Private hauler driver is responsible, even if you buy additional insurance from HaulBikes - not fair to the driver, driver does not know who even bought extra insurance
My bike was perfect when arrived in a 2 story tractor trailer to my driveway, just strapped down - no pallet - no cover
don't know how they are now ... but they lied to my face (my phone) back then - I booked my ship date 6 weeks in advance - busy season was their excuse
when I had my Limited shipped, (Florida to Arizona) I went through http://www.motorcycleshippers.com/
they contracted it out to Keyboard, and they delivered it with no problems.
The driver and his wife, told me next time to call them direct, and they could probably save me some money.
