I'm not advocating it but as of the 1st of September, lane splitting is legal in Texas is legal. See Texas Lane Splitting for the details.

That site describes a bill introduced to the house, but I can't find where it passed. It isn't on the list at the DPS site describing new traffic laws. It may not have ever gotten out of committee, or not been voted on, or maybe even shot down.

OK, went on a search. Here's the status of the bill. Please note it is NOT a valid law. Don't try lane splitting in Texas, yet.
HB1522: Filed - 23 Feb 2005

Referred to law Enforcement - 28 Feb 2005
It was not voted on, and was not passed. I repeat, it ain't a law!
I can understand where lane splitting can get a person out of a jam sometime or another, but with some of the car drivers that I have seen, it could be a very dangerous move to make. If you try it, watch out for the goofball in the car that is in a hurry also.
Skip is correct - It is not a law in Texas yet and to my understanding California is the only state you can do it but not because it is legal - It is not illegal to do it in Cali - Make sense????

Well, it's no surprise that our state legislators could not pass the lane splitting law. They certainly wiffed on more important issues like school finance and property taxes. We should lock Mr.'s Craddick, Perry and Dewhurst in a room and not let them out until they can come to an agreement, or maybe just throw away the key. Next time for governor, I'm voting for either grandma or Kinky. Like the Kinkster says, he may not be any better but he couldn't be any worse.
