We bought the Cardo Scala Rider Q3 system this weekend and took it on a long ride on Sunday. As ClodeV said, it was a bit complicated to set up, but once you get it figured out it worked very well. My wife found the built-in FM radio excellent, and commented several times that I needed to stop talking so she could listen to the radio. We are both very happy with the system.

We wanted a way to communicate effectively with full face helmets, and the Q3 does that very well. We don't talk the whole time we are riding...in fact, we spoke rarely over the course of a 5 hour ride, but when we wanted to speak to eachother it was clear and effective and didn't force us to scream and me to turn my head and devote less than total engagement in riding the bike.

I chose correctly...for both a wife and an intercom.

We use the SENA SMH-10. It's great for same bike and bike-to-bike. Specs advertise a range of 980 yards. That's pretty accurate, and reception and quality are great.
Plus, you can send and receiev calls, listen to music or your navigation.
4 of us will be wearing them on our upcoming 850 mile ride to Myrtle Beach. Comes in handy for discussing directions, pee breaks, etc.

Another thumbs up for the sena smh-10. Bought it this Christmas and just started using it. Can plug in an ipod, hook up the phone via blue tooth. Speakers are great and sounds so much better than the HK stereo. Going to try plugging the stereo into the head set so I can listed to the game if I really want to.

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 18 and just turned 45. Have never wore a helmet my entire riding career. On my third Harley in the last 10 years and used to think music on a bike was ridiculous until I purchased my street glide two years ago. Now I can't go without it.

Last summer going through Yellowstone we almost T-boned a lady who pulled out in front of us and was within a foot or so of a really really bad accident. So we decided to purchase helmets. We settled on the Harley HJC 3/4 helmet. Almost impossible to communicate if needed or hear the music (I have Sirius satellite piped through bike and LOVE it!). My wife used to be a hunting guide and loves the outdoors so she is always looking for wild life when we ride and likes to let me know about it. :-) I just ordered the Harley wiring set up for the gawd awful price they want for it however I think we will be more than happy with it. No batteries to charge and we can listen to our music of our taste.......
