I have changed tires on dirt bikes with the rim locks and that was a bitch, in comparison how is it changing a tire on a harley I have a 2003 dyna lowrider with a 150x16 rear tire anyone know
Thanks for any help
I change mine I got a bead breaker from harbor freight and a couple tire irons. I could get it off but not on till my buddy told me that you need to warm up the tire first. I lay it on the driveway on a sunny day. With a little soapy water goes right on.
Break the bead with a 2x4 board and a little leverage.
Remove the tire with spoons. (protect the wheel with a section of water hose)
Put new tire on with spoons.
Use a shot of starter fluid and a match to seat the bead. (lube with dishwashing soap first, it also helps seal it)
Add air and done...
Buy a 6 pack of beer with the indy's $20 and have change left for gas.
i just just did my front tire on my street bob..was worried bout pinchin the tube also..been awhile since ive done tires..no prob cept i got careless and nicked the paint in one spot on my black rim..didnt get too upset tho, shes a rider, not a looker.
You can buy hard nylon rim protectors for where you position the tire irons. I've changed the tubeless tires on my Road King, but now I just take the wheels to a local indy.
