Got a ticket on my LowRider about 13 years ago 'cause I coasted through a stop sign without coming to a full stop. Mighta been because the drug dealers on the corner started walking towards me saying something & the only word I could make out was "Whitey"!

Got pulled over once about six months ago for making a left turn on red. I told him that my 09 Sportster did not have enough metal mass to trigger the left turn arrow and told him that a Sgt told me that as long as I looked out for oncoming traffic and made sure that it was safe to make the left turn I was OK. I also made sure that he saw my Retired Law Enforcement I.D. and Shield from a L. E. Agency on the Mainland as i showed him my DL, Registration, and Insurance Card. We chatted for a few minutes comparing Hawaii and the Mainland and he wished me a "Be careful and have a good day". Easy enough...

Got pulled over by a State boy on my sportster for doing 70 in a 55, when he asked me how fast I was going I told him that when we passed each other I was doing 70.

He took my license to check me out, came back and told me to have a nice day.

I think being straight with him about my speed made the difference.

About 5 years ago I'm riding up to Laconia with a buddy of mine (visited Cooperstown on the way). We're heading through Vermont and stop at this place called Stewarts to eat. We pull out and there's this cop following us all through town. I almost missed a turn and had to make a sharp right turn, the cop was right on my buddies rear fender. I knew we would be getting pulled over, I just didn't know why. The cop car lights finally come on, we pull over and the cop asks my buddy for his license, registration and insurance card. He goes back to the squad car and comes back laughing. He told us a woman called 911 on us when we were eating at Stewarts because she recognized my friend from an episode of "America's most wanted" on TV. Obviously she was mistaken, My buddy was always a straight A student and had never seen the inside of a jail cell. Although he did look like Rob Zombie. We all had a good laugh, shook hands and went our separate ways.

This is a BIG one! The several times that I've been pulled over (in my cage), I've always "won them over" by telling them my wallet was in my back-left pocket, or my registration was in my glove box and the "do you mind if I reach for it?" question. It sounds very odd, and they even look at me weird, but I think they instantly respect that I'm being conscious of their safety. This, as opposed to the pissed off people blaring music with limo-tinted windows who instantly start to reach around without being directed. I'm also not going to say that the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund plate helps, but it doesn't hurt either.

Be safe!

I got stopped at a DUI checkpoint a couple years ago. They were real nice, especially since I had not been drinking.

that drives me nuts. sitting at a light for 3, 4, 5, 7 minutes waiting for a car to come up behind you and trigger the dang thing. eventually you just give your last looks and go for it. i feel shame every time i do it
