Required by law under age 21. Over age 21, riders are not required to wear a helmet with proof of successful completion of rider training or hold medical insurance covering injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident; Texas Transportation Code, Title 7, Subtitle G, Chapter 661
and because you are now required to complete a rider training course before you can get your motorcycle endorsement, if a=b and b=c then a=c (brought me all the way back to my high school math class there. mrs. h would be proud)
The rider's course requirement for a new endorsement is less than 3 years old. Doesn't cover the largest majority of bikers.
I sat in on the re-write in the 2007 legislative session. Went through hours of committees, sub committees, lobbied against insurance co, Bell helmet co, numerous families with lost loved ones who died helmetless on a motorcycle, and chased it through calendars w Sputnik and others.
Your say " with proof of "
Those proofs are "exemptions" to a law. We also got the sticker removed and a statement from the DPS against helmet profiling in the 2009 session. SB1967 signed June 09 effective date 9/1 same year.
To say there is no Texas helmet law, interesting news to me and hundreds if us who worked the bill onto Perry's desk.

Last couple times I was pulled over for speeding and not coming to a complete stop. Both times I hand over my permit to carry along with my license and both times got off with warnings. Me thinks the PTC tells the cop that I'm not a criminal so he let's me off.

Just had to get that " I carry " into this somehow didn't you ................
52 in 45 right after I bought the bike. I was out exploring the back roads. The cop was as cool as he could be. We sat and talked bikes for about 15 minutes. He shook my hand and then he told me to slow down. Best interaction with law enforcement thus far in my life.

I got pulled over about 20 years ago by a highway patrolman who admitted he pulled me over because i was going 2 mph over the limit and then proceeded to talk Nortons for the next 10 minutes. I was riding an almost new looking 73 Norton Commando. "Well sir i pulled you over because you were going an indicated 2 mph over the limit, say what year is that Commando?" LOL
