Never got a ticket, but got captured and interrogated once. I didn't know some government property is so secret there's no signs or fences to let anyone know it's there. But ride into it doing some off road riding and you find out... Only time I ever saw a loaded M60 machine gun in the States that wasn't being used for practice, took all the wise *** right out of me. They just tried to worry me a bit and then said leave and stay out.
I used to get pulled over a lot, sometimes I earned it sometimes it was bs. Then somewhere in the mid-late 80s it tapered off as bikes became more mainstream. I haven't been pulled over in quite a while now although they have shook a finger at me a few times when I was getting on it a little. In the last 8-10 yrs the only times I have been stopped is when there has been a manhunt and they had roadblocks stopping everyone, that has been 3 or 4 times.
Texas has a helmet law. 97.347653% of Tx riders either dont know the law or get the facts wrong.
actually there is no helmet law in texas.
Required by law under age 21. Over age 21, riders are not required to wear a helmet with proof of successful completion of rider training or hold medical insurance covering injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident; Texas Transportation Code, Title 7, Subtitle G, Chapter 661
and because you are now required to complete a rider training course before you can get your motorcycle endorsement, if a=b and b=c then a=c (brought me all the way back to my high school math class there. mrs. h would be proud)
Only got pulled over once on two wheels and it was by a motor cop. Was on a 4 lane road with next to no traffic when a pickup turns left in front of me. I lean on the brakes to stop before hitting him and then see he is using about 50 feet of clothesline to tow another pickup. The second truck is swinging wide so as I start heaving the bike backwards I hit the horn. After the moron just misses me I start riding again and can now see the police bike parked in the oncoming lane behind where the pickups were. The cop waves me over and starts lecturing me about how I need to be patient and he could write me a ticket for excessive horn use. Wasnt a smart move, but I suggested that maybe if he did his job by directing traffic or impounding the two POS trucks that had no business being on the road I wouldnt have needed to use the horn. Guess he realized he was in the wrong since he told me to leave before things got ugly for me. Still can't believe that someone who rides for a living actually did that.
