Default Freaking Dealers!

So, last Christmas my wife orders me the Snap on toolkit (94684-00A) from Shumate HD in Kennewick, WA. Christmas morning were opening presents and we get to the last two packages, a small one and a large one. I open the small one first, woo hoo a Snap on tool kit, very nice. My wife says "there must be more tools because the large one came with it". I'm thinking hmmmm..... so I open it and it is full of performance Suzuki parts, $1300.00 worth to be exact that was accidently shipped to us. A couple days after Christmas I give them a call, I get this; "oh you don't know how happy we are, you really saved our butts, thank you so much blah, blah, blah"......they mail me a shipping label I stick it on the box and and send it back. Never here another word. I have forgotton about it. No big deal.

So today we are in Kennewick and stop by Shumate HD. I'm looking at the Fairing Mount Mirrors (91945-98B) $59.95 and I get to talking to one of the sales schumcks. My wife says something about that package that we mailed back, I'm like "oh yeah", the schumck says "I remember that, oh you don't know how happy we were, you really saved our butts, thank you so much blah, blah, blah"......

(Me) So thats got to be worth a little discount on the mirrors then right?

(Schumck) Um, oh I don't think I can do that, there pretty strict about that, gee I just don't know.

I put the mirrors back on the wall, didn't say another word, walked out. I don't think I will be back.

Man did they lose big? You already bought the bike to put all the accesories on and they don't want your business. What a bunch of pro's there. Just kiss the bucks good-bye.

I wouldn't expect a discount for doing the right thing....neither should you.

I think that a discount would be fine in such a case, I mean, come on, he sent back $1300 in tools, the least they could do is knock 15-20% off of a set of mirrors that probably has a profit margin of around 100% built in for the dealer.

Yeah, it was doing the right thing, but by the same token, you are supposed to reward honesty and integrity if you can....but then again, this is a harley dealer we are talking about.........

It ticks me off every time I come up with something I want to add to my ride. I would much rather go down to the dealer I bought my bike at and support the business, but no, I have to get on my phone and call my 20% off source. My dealer has lost "about" $5K in sales, that would have been through their dealer if they offered 20% off if you bought your bike from them. Just don't get it.

I expect a discount EVERYTIME I buy parts. That's why I don't do it through the stealer.
