I think it's more about the people and geography than the bike. Some people are just snobby. I can go 200 miles south and everyone is friendly as can be but in my own area, people tend to be a bit douchey.
They are jealous because the can't afford the Big Iron. Want proof?
Almost everyone who rides wants a Harley. They ride others 'cause they can't afford a Davidson. If you look at famous people who ride, they almost exclusively ride Harleys, even though they can afford to ride anything they want. Don't see many multimillionaires riding metric.
Don't hate them. Feel sorry for them, because they know not the pleasures of forking the Big Iron. And, they prolly never will.

Lol, this is pretentious as hell. If you got the money to put down on a bike, there are Harleys out there in your price range. Some people really don't care for Harleys, like Sonny Barger.
When it comes to people, everyone has their reasons for being however they are. The people putting up the biggest walls are the ones missing out the most.

Keep telling yourself that. Go ride a royal star. That V4 is so smooth, has so much more power than anything Harley couldnt even dream of putting on the road.
You are one of them I spent the most money so I win the race D bags.
My bike I have now, I found it when it was 4 years old, with less than a thousand miles and paid less than half of retail. I bet you would snub me too, I dont even own a Harley tshirt (no one will gift me one either because they know I wont wear it) and my two main riding buddies ride a 1100 classic and 1300 Yamaha.
It's the image that Harley riders are all bad ***, arrogant, *** holes. This is true in my case.
But if you're not, and it bothers you, Show them your all kumbaya and say hello.
I'm a pretty intimidating guy. I'm 6'5" really big, and sleeved on both arms. I always wear a cut when I'm on the bike. Most metric riders show respect by not making eye contact, and are pleasantly surprised when I speak to them. Most Harley riders will speak, but with due respect, and it's returned. It's funny to me how on their scooter, they have the "just out of prison" look, but when they are an arms length away, they tend to be more respectful. As for me, I don't care what you ride, badasses and douchebags ride whatever they choose. Show respect, get respect. Talk ****, spit blood.

Very few people approach me as soon as I pull in a parking lot and want to talk. Neither do I. Just not that chatty I guess, so I could care less. If I've pulled into a particular place my destination is inside, not outside chatting it up with strangers.
A douche is a douche, regardless of the bike they straddle...

This is a stupid and untrue statement....

You sound like the idiot that thinks that anyone who doesn't ride a Rushhmore is jealous because they "can't afford one".
Harley's are cool and nice....But they are FAR from being the "best" motorcycle on the road.

Most celebrities ride as much in their entire lives as I do in one week.

I don't feel sorry for anyone that rides a motorcycle and enjoys it.
I do feel sorry for washed up old patchouli oil wearin', Depends needin', Viagra dependent hippies that can't figure out why they ain't cool, even though they ride a Harley.
