Life is way too short and friends way too few to go around excluding folks for what they ride.

Nice, real nice. Call someone an idiot because they believe in and really enjoy what they ride. No doubt you'll flame me for saying this.

Ride safe

geez . . and what about the non Harley riders who 'enjoy what they ride' that he is always making derogatory comments about their bikes? Or making wild assumptions they really want a Harley? You are cool with that?

I'm stocky, heavily inked, shaved head, goatee, leather, etc., with a boxer's nose so I reckon I've got "that look", but.... I can talk to a wall. Never met a stranger & I dig all motorcycles. I've had sportbike guys look surprised when I walked over to talk about their bike & had some "badass" RC guys do the whole back-turn thing when I rolled up, as if I gave a **** what some costumed wannabe thinks.

I'd say it's a little of both. Some metric guys are pretentious ******, as are some Harley folks. Just like anything else, I reckon- both good folks & buttholes on both sides.

Yep very well stated. I don't care what you look like or what you ride, I'll say hello and ask about your ride. If you don't like it, I'll just say ride safe and walk away.

Maybe it has nothing to do with bikes and is about people? Some people just aren't friendly. Also, not everyone is going to behave or conform the way you want them to.

If you drive a RAM and you pull up to a couple people who own a F150 and say Hi to them and they just stand their with their backs turned, would the thought enter your mind that it's because you drive a RAM? You would think maybe they are talking or didn't hear you. You wouldn't fret about it or go on a RAM forum and talk about being dissed.

For some reason, motorcycles are different. People seem to take everything personal if they even think someone looked at them the wrong way, failed to acknowledge or wave, etc. Why, I don't know.

Almost everyone who rides wants a Harley. They ride others 'cause they can't afford a Davidson. If you look at famous people who ride, they almost exclusively ride Harleys, even though they can afford to ride anything they want. Don't see many multimillionaires riding metric.

Don't hate them. Feel sorry for them, because they know not the pleasures of forking the Big Iron. And, they prolly never will.

Elitist mythical BS. "Famous" people are idiots and elitists and want to convey the biker appearance. For famous people it's ALL about appearances. Many may not even ride a whole lot. if at all. They would not be seen on anything but an American bike....Sonny Barger is riding a Victory and claimed he would have been riding Japanese bikes if Harley was not the mandatory ride.

Anyone who paid over $12K for any new Japanese cruiser could have had a Harley, Anyone who paid $12K or more for a Victory could have purchased a Harley.

The myth Harleys are out of reach financially for the "poor Japanese wannabee" riders "all of whom who wish they could afford a Harley" is hogwash.

They can find used ones at $7K with low miles if they really wanted a Harley. The 90's are over.

Used ow mileage inexpensive Harleys are a dime a dozen.

Anyone with $10K to blow on a bike and now even $7K or less can buy the Harley Davidson badge. New or used with low miles, The only people who might wish they could buy a Harley are those with $4000 and less budgets,

Harley is not the bike every V Twin Cruiser rider "aspires too" I certainly did not when I bought my Yamaha 1300 and put $4500 in it! I could have bought a whole lot of Harleys. But I put too many miles on at the time and nothing kills Harley resale value more than mileage because there are far more low mileage bikes for sale they have to compete with.

Dickey is still stuck in the past. He thinks mullets are cool and hair metal is the latest trend. I guess he doesn't realize that times, they are a changin'.

When I first started riding, in the early 90's, I really thought that Harley riders looked down on me. I thought, I would not be welcome in their midst. Therefore, I stayed away from anyone riding a Harley. The problem was me, not them. I really bought into the whole stereotype and I was wrong. Also, I have participated in a metric bike forum and found a lot of people in that forum quick to justify their bike by bashing Harleys. I think when someone feels oppressed, they react by oppressing whom they view as their oppressor. Now, I ride a Harley and I talk to everyone and most everyone talks to me.
