Going to the rally for a few days this year. Will be my second time going, but this time it will be by myself. Debating if I should even go since I will not know anyone there that I want to be with.
Any suggestions on where to go and hook up with a group to tag along? Going to be tent camping somewhere.

You are what 5 hours away ! Go, I bet once you hit the road and fall in with a group it will all be cool ! I'm riding thru ND on Friday Aug 1 with a buddy and spending the night in Medora and riding to Sturgis on Saturday with my SIL. We are camping at the Chip for the week so see ya on the road or when we cross the big muddy in Bismarck !
I learned a long time ago, if you wanna do something do it don't wait on anyone, no regrets. I've done a ton of **** on my own, **** happens, plans fall apart, but if you wanna do then do it. I'm sure you will fall in with someone.
Most people that I've met in Sturgis were pretty friendly. I doubt that you would have an issue meeting a group at the campgrounds to tag along with. Hey who knows you may meet a few people that you really get along with and strike up some lifetime friendships. Go and enjoy it. I wish I were that close to the Black Hills.
There are so many groups out there. Just fall in behind one they probably won't even know your there. JK
Go have a good time.
I know it's not the same but my wife and I prefer to go alone. As said before you never have to wait for anyone. We always meet people at the stops for lunch or refreshments. The places are always packed and we just ask to share a table with some one. Have met many people that way. and if they are not your type all you have to do is move on.
I'm going again this year from NC. I plan on camping at the Lamphere Ranch basically across the field from Full Throttle. I should be arriving on July 29th if all goes well.
A five hour ride to Sturgis sounds like heaven instead of the 2,000 miles I[m facing. That's barely a day trip by most standards. Have fun and don't link your plans to anyone else because they'll dick it up most likely in the last minute. Plan it solo and roll.
