That's how my son got his handle in his MC. Look on his cut, "Kilswitch". I've done my share of dumb stuff, I just don't like to admit it.

I had already unscrewed the negative terminal and dropped the screw, so I had to hold the terminal up against my frame for grounding. I want to check first if the bike will run abnormally first before I do it. Does anyone know? Thanks.

A carbed engine will do the muffler-bomb thing. The kill switch only shuts off the ignition system. As the engine continues to turn, driven by the rear wheel, the carb continues to feed the air-fuel mixture to the engine. The fuel mixture gets pumped (raw) straight through the engine and builds up in the muffler(s). Turning the switch back on ignites the built-up fuel when the engine starts firing again.

An EFI engine does not do this - the fuel injection system is also shut off by the kill switch, so the engine only pumps air straight through. There is no fuel to build up in the muffler.

Dunno about that or how the Twinkies are wired up now but seen numerous guys grinding at the starter button or the kicker and forgot to check that little switch first.

Rocking one one & off at speed doesn't do anything to them mechanically unless the owner freaks and does something they shouldn't, the old points days you could run one up hit the switch with the throttle still open and flip it back on and pop flames out the pipes.
