Default engine Shut off

Being a new owner of an 06 Ultra, Ineed lots of help.
I have been told that you need to kill the engine by using the kill switch instead of the key switch.
Yes or no, and why.
Thanks

You can but you don't need to.
The reason they put a kill switch on it is so you don't have to take your hands off the clutch or brake to shut it off. The onlytime I use the kill switchis when I need to park on an incline and don't want to park in neutral so I keep it in gear with the clutch pulled in and my right hand on the front brake and use my thumb to shut it off with the kill switch.

Just use your common sense and you'll be fine.

Last MSF course I took advised to use the Kill switch to turn the bike on/off. They had a reason for it, but I've slept since then. I just do it now out of habit.

When I bought my 07 Ultra the stealer told me to use the kill switch and the ign. switch as part of a sequence to get used to, because to fire the thing up with the kill switch off you need to =turn on the ign. switch, wait for littlelight to go out then turn on the kill switch then wait for other light to go out then fire it up= what a crook of s==t. I wish like my otherHD I could turn on the switch and fire it up, no lights to mess with. Oh well I'll have to learn to live with High Technology....

I only use my kill switch when parking on an incline and leaving my 06 FLHT/I in gear. I use it asa reminder that I left the bike in gear.

I use my kill switch just out of force of habit. My driveway is very sloped and need to keep my hand on the brake.

Hogtoad: You dont have to wait for that light to go off. I know my dealer told me to wait also. Since then and after installing my PCIII have done some other research and found you dont have to wait.

using the kill switch not the ignition usually causes you to walk away with the lights left on.

Probably takes the load off the contacts in the ignition switch.

I always reach over & hit Danny's kill switch when the light turns green then drive off!
