Default Windshield placement help and advice

Hi all,

The quick release windshield that I bought with my Street Bob was a little too tall for me so I measured up to the tip of my nose following the rake of the forks and brought it to an aquaintance who owns a body shop for cutting. He asked me if I wanted it smoked as well and I thought that might be cool.

This is what I got back and I think it looks good but I'm wondering if it's too dark or still too high. It does force me to look above which I know is a good thing. The tint is close to 80% so I can see through it but it's pretty dark. The second pic is what it looks like from my nose over the screen. I have it as low on the forks as it can go.

I haven't had a chance to drive with it yet but any thoughts?

It may be too dark to pass annual inspection. You may have to remove it to get passed. Not sure but something to consider. Too dark for my tastes I like a light smoke color. It does look good on the bike though.

Yeah, its pretty dark. Looks very cool with that bike tho. If your looking over the top, the dark shouldn't be that much of an issue I would think. Ride it for a while and see how you like it. Might just be your cup of tea.

Looks dangerous. I like to be able to see through mine, but have it just high enough that I can look over it when it rains.
At night,or in rain or fog,you won't be able to see a thing.

I rode it the long way home from work a whopping 3 miles plus a 13 mile loop. Took a few minutes tobget used to but definitely keeps my eyes up which is a good thing. I see clearly over it from my standard position so I think I'm good for a bit. Going uphill was a little strange at first. Night riding we'll see about but I don't really ride at night much. It does fit the bike well from an appearance standpoint and I enjoyed riding with it, takes care of the wind just enough but I can definitely see decently above

I cut mine down myself the day after I got home from the dealer. It's an easy job and I would say it hits me lower than your is right now. A tinted windshield like that would drive me crazy, way too dark.

Thanks for the compliments, I agree I think it looks good from a color perspective.

Rode the long way back into work this morning, seems second nature now no worries, pretty cloudy day but we'll see if I need to cut a little more. I tried a slouching position for when I get lazy and could still easily scan the area up front but as mentioned I need to see the potholes in advance if I really want to avoid them.

I'd give comfortable overlook distance to an object on the road about 30 feet before my vision goes into the realm of looking through it. Anything beyond that is well above the windshield.

I need to find the time to do a longer ride and see I guess.
