How do I read the check engine code on a 2013 883 Iron? My wife's bike stuttered on her this morning and it had the light on. I will take it back to the dealer since it's under warranty, but would like to know how to read the code.
With the bike off, and the kill switch on 'run', hold the trip button in and turn the key to on. The speedo will sweep all the way up and back, and it will be in diagnostic mode.
ECM = engine computer
BCM = body computer (may not be on the 2013)
SPEDO = speedometer
A quick tap on the trip button cycles through the modes; a press-and-hold selects the mode. You probably want ECM if your engine light is on. After you press and hold on ECM, you will see the first code. A quick tap shows the next code, etc. You can clear the codes by holding the trip button down, but you shouldn't do that if you are taking it to the dealer - let them see the codes.
Oh, if you are running XiED's, the P0131 and P0151 historic codes are normal (low O2 sensor voltage - that's how the XiED's work), but they should not cause the check engine light to come on...
No xied's, it's still stock. Thanks for the reply. I should have thought to search the forum first, thanks for the link. I'll see what comes up on the speedo.

It's a code 1352 which seems to be the front ignition coil is bad. Guess I'll let the dealer fix it since it's under warranty.

That's what I'd do. Let them fix it - no reason it shouldn't be covered under warranty.
I like how Harley understands the DIY nature of their customer base and set the system up so we can read the codes without a scanner. Of course, you have to spend $60 on a diagnostic manual to know what they mean...

Was the bike misfiring or hesitating, or doing anything that you noticed? If it was, check the plug wire connections at both ends and make sure they're snapped tight. A code for a given component doesn't mean automatically replace that part.
If the dealer replaces the coil, ask them to replace the wires as well.
