I agree phones should not be able to text after a certain speed...or just get rid of texting function all together..i feel it has made the younger generation not able to communicate correctly with other individuals .....and to make things bad enough its not just people in cars texting I have seen people on bikes text and have there freekin cell up to there face riding down the road...it is illeagle to text while driving where im at but how do you enforce that when all the piggies around here cant stop finger f'n there phone either...

In addition to rendering the younger generation unable to communicate it really screws up your spelling and punctuation doesn't it?
Really ticks me off the laws seem to worry more about seatbelts than texting. Its not just the younger kids either, here in Fla. I see lots of blue hairs doing it too.
I rolled my Cobra Mustang 2 1/2 times because of a girl texting, she took off/fled the scene.
I don't understand why they need to itemize each of these items - we have had distracted driving laws here since before I got my license 30+ years ago.
Anytime something "new" comes along, especially along that the more "senior" folks don't understand, then it becomes the root of all evil.

Laws banning texting or cell use while driving won't do anything.
There is a law against speeding and it is illegal to go over the speed limit. How many here follow the speed limit when riding or driving?
Making texting a primary moving offense that allows an LEO to stop the individual won't do anything either. Just like people slow down when they see an LEO, they will put away the phone when they see an LEO. When an LEO isn't present, it will be business as usual.
A law would just be a formality and a technicality that allows the prosecutor to charge the individual. It will have next to no impact on behavior, IMO.
Cell phones and texting are here to stay. The only way to deal with it is to either not go out on the road or be extra vigilant. Relying on someone else to do the right thing and follow the law is a pipe dream. Like they tell you in MSF, it is suggested that you grow eyes in the back of your head and keep them open at all times. Motorcycling comes with many inherent dangers and getting mowed down by distracted road users is one of them. That's just the way it is. We are exposed and vulnerable.
Not too long ago I was traveling on my bike down a five lane state highway between two towns that had traffic lights. I noticed a guy in a truck going slower and weaving in his lane so I stayed back from him. When we got to the stop light I noticed he was texting, the light turned green and he slowly started moving. I stayed with him until the next light and I pulled up beside him and looked at him and hollered "texting is illegal." The light turned green, he took off fast and pulled over on the shoulder of the highway. When I went by him he looked at me and gave me a thumbs up with a smile. I thought I was going to get the finger.
It is so dangerous and can't understand how people think it is ok.
Your situation was better than mine. Traveling two up with my wife I see the same type of scene. Pull up next to a 20 something female and turn my head to the right and see she is texting and oblivious to me. She looks at me and all I did was shake my head. She loses her mind and starts calling me every name in the book and flipping me off. I try to get ahead of her and she's trying not to let me pass. I got over and pulled into a convenience store to let her pass. She was absolutely insane. All I can figure is she knew it was wrong and didn't like being reminded. People are crazy. I wish that they could develop a signal scrambler that was legal to mount on the bike kinda like those red light triggers.

should be ok with a limited range fm transmitter like they have for the old gear that was supposed to broadcast your mp3's to the radio way back when. Just need to figure out how to make'm operate at 2.4 ghz. The unit as is is perfectly legal - ofc any modifications well - unsure about your local laws.
