Ok slow down on the highhorses and texter bashing, there was NOTHING in that article about a phone being involved OP jumped a big conclusion there with that title.
Tragedy ? Yes , bitch needs some jail time ? Yes , do we all need to drag out the texting soapbox again ? No

I was still stuck on texting will be the downfall of civilization because of poor spelling and punctuation.
Changing a CD while driving is dangerous, too. So is picking a baby bottle up off of the floor to give to a baby.
We need to enforce them all, not just the ones we don't like.
Texting is a cronic and pervasive problem. Changing a CD, although distracting and dangerous, is not an on-going exercise like texting is.
Many on this forum know my avid stance on driving/riding while drinking. I'm quite vocal about it. I feel the same way about texting. In most ways. It's no different. Some idiot making a selfish choice and not thinking of anyone else but themselves.

I don't know about that - I see people doing all manner of stupid crap while driving. Playing with the radio, putting on makeup, playing with kids. I had a friend get run into a ditch by an old man that was trying to put an address into a GPS. Elderly drivers have caused more accidents over the years than texting drivers. Why don't we rush to ban that? I wonder . . .
I'm not saying that text while driving won't sometimes cause accidents. But, we don't know if that was the cause here, and there are also other things that are just as dangerous.

Sorry TwiZted but I disagree. Whether or not this OP's incident was texting related is not the whole issue. I don't think it can be said enough. the texting and driving issues aren't getting better. It's getting worse. That, itself, means the message isn't getting out enough in a way that prevents (or lessens) this epidemic. Some causes are worth repeating over and over again until it starts to take hold.

Don't get me started on women and putting on their makeup. I know what you're saying. I also don't know if the article in the OP was or wasn't texting related. That said, the texting while driving issue, to me and many, is a big problem. I think more so, as a whole, than some of the things you mentioned.

No I didn't jump to any conclusion. This happened just 30 miles from me. Local folks here that knew the driver said she was texting on FB. I just reported the link and that. One of the guys lived just 11 miles from my home.
Local people here on facebook said she was texting at the time. I think that has to be some of the pending charges also.
Since you posted a WDBJ link and are tuned in with local folks on FB I assume you are in the general area. I live in Franklin County and work in Roanoke. Maybe we'll pass on the road some day. I may or may not wave though.
